An occult sacrifice coincided with a hadron collider experiment next door, opening tears in reality across the city.
Motivation
Dimension Red was meant to gauge the difficulty of creating a game similar to Infectonator: Survivors
Features
Dimension Red features procedurally generated levels so each playthrough of the game is different. Enemies also have ghost-like, unpredictable movement patterns.
Resources
There are four playable characters that can be individually controlled. Each character has several resources: Health, Armor, Ammo, Food, and Shiny-Bits. Resources can be collected from loot piles.
<game>
Controls
Click on a tile to move the character to that area. Use the arrow keys to move the camera around the map.
On the World Map use the Enter key to enter a question tile.
Within the levels:
Select individual characters with the 1, 2, 3, or 4 keys or click on the character's name plate.
With a character selected, use WASD to attack in that direction. From the store different items can be purchased and equipped. Use the Retreat Button to make the characters on Exit Spaces flee the level. Try to keep your party alive for as long as possible!
Difficulties
The main technical difficulties included creating the tile based movement for the characters and enemies. There were also multiple errors caused by Unity's collaboration option removing prefab settings. The main non-technical difficulty was creating a simple interface and well defined areas of code functionality for all code.
Future Work
There is currently no plans to continue this project. But if there were future improvement would include:
